1. Introduction

Because of its user-friendly nature, FileMaker has become a popular database solution, and FileMaker Server extends that solution with many features - including scheduled backups. While useful, FileMaker Server's backup ability is limited in terms of user customization.

KP-Backup was developed to address the needs of more flexible backup requirements. Features include multiple backup schedules for user-specified databases, compressed backup archives, and email alerts for backup errors. It has been designed to ease the database administrator's task of maintaining database reliability.
